Quincy Point Homes for Sale

Quincy Point 02169 consists of a large area of the eastern part of Quincy MA. It borders both Weymouth, at the Weymouth Fore River, and Braintree. Also known as “The Point”, this area is considered as the downtown district. It is an active part of Quincy with many places to get shopping done or to try a wide variety of restaurants.

Residents here enjoy the small beaches dotted around its outskirts on the water. Mound Street Beach and Avalon Beach are always a short drive or easy walk away. For other outdoor activity, there’s Fore River Field with its athletic complex and Monroe Playground. A safe place for children to play. Although most of Quincy Point is a longer walk to the Red Line T, there are many busses that consistently stop through the streets for easy access. Living in Quincy point means always being a short drive to the South Shore Plaza, one of Massachusetts older and more sizable malls.

Since its dawn as a mere fishing village, this area has been influenced by industrial production over time. During colonial times, this once was a settlement that was reliant on the surrounding waters. Many residents were mostly fishers or shipbuilders. As time went on the US was in need of many workers for shipbuilding in the Fore River Shipyard to support trade as well as the Worl Wars. The Fore River Shipyard was perfect for the U.S. Navy to commission new battleships and aircraft carriers. The Quincy port and shipyard drew in local citizens and immigrant laborers alike, all looking for employment. Here they built their lives and families. Eventually, Quincy Point became one of Quincy’s more diverse and cultural neighborhoods. Plenty of small, single family lots became focused and dotted around the shipyard. Since then, the shipyard has greatly diminished but The Point has not. Quincy Point is now growing and constantly redeveloping commercial and residential areas that will echo its past industrial roots. Today, you’ll even find the U.S. Naval Shipbuilding Museum at the Fore River Shipyard which features the USS Salem, an intact heavy cruiser open for viewing.
